FUFA 2024 Awards Nominees: Full List & How to Vote

The FUFA 2024 Awards are here and the country is talking about it. It’s an awards show recognizing achievements in all levels of Ugandan football on May 30 at the Serena Hotel in Kampala. The theme for the 2024 edition is “Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars,” which reflects the intention of the awards show to honor the game changers in their respective fields over the course of the year, from players to coaches, to supporters to teams.

What Are the FUFA Awards?

The FUFA Awards are presented annually by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations and seek to recognize the most achievements in Uganda’s football arena during the present season. There are men and women’s football categories, in addition to those associated with beach soccer and futsal and fan awards.

How to Vote for FUFA 2024 Awards Nominees

Public voting began on Saturday, May 24, 2025, and fans can cast their votes via:

  • The official FUFA website
  • Select social media polls on FUFA’s verified accounts

Voting closes on May 29, 2025, at midnight.

Male Player of the Year Nominees

These five players had a phenomenal season. Each possessed a distinct style, though consistency and positive results for their respective clubs were in common.

  1. Denis Omedi – Kitara FC

Denis Omedi is a natural leader both on the pitch and off. He was integral to Kitara’s development over the course of the season.

  1. Ssekiganda Ronald – SC Villa

Ronald is SC Villa’s midfield general who can dictate tempo, disrupt lines and find space like no other.

  1. Kakande Jonah Patrick – SC Villa

Kakande is amongst the most important players in the league with a clinical finish; he has scored 8 goals in addition to making numerous critical pass attempts.

  1. Jude Ssemugabi – Kitara FC

Ssemugabi’s electric speed matched with his quick feet make him a defender’s nightmare when he gets down the flanks; he netted 10 goals this campaign.

  1. Allan Okello – Vipers SC

Okello returned to form after an injury-plagued season last year; he boasts 19 goals to his name this season in addition to numerous match-winning performances.

Female Player of the Year Nominees

Women’s football has made huge strides, and these stars have led the way.

  1. Agnes Nabukenya – Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC

Nabukenya runs the show in the Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC midfield. She played every minute this season, which reflects her leadership qualities and tactical discipline.

  1. Daisy Nakaziro – Kampala Queens FC

Nakaziro, the goalkeeper for Kampala Queens, recorded over 10 clean sheets this season due to her world-class reflexes.

Male Coach of the Year Nominees

  1. Mbalangu Hussein – NEC FC

Transformed a mid-table team into authentic title challengers.

  1. Ssenyondo Brian – U17 National Team

Taught Uganda how to win the CECAFA U-17 title, proving he’s got an eye for up-and-coming talent.

  1. Dusan Stojanovic – SC Villa

The Serbian tactician revived a sleeping giant, leading SC Villa to a top-three finish.

Women’s Football Coach of the Year Nominees

  1. Frank Anyau – Amus College
