The FUFA Super 8 is back with lots of vibrancy and keen competition compared to any other year. This year’s tournament will have the top 7 clubs from the last season’s table of the 2023/24 Premier League, whereby one spot remains reserved for a select side comprising free agents. Here is your ultimate guide to the FUFA Super 8, 2024: teams, new formats, key players, and what fans are looking out for.
This year’s tournament shall host the top seven teams in the Premier League 2023/2024 season and one selected team inclusive of free agents. The competitors are:
The FUFA Super 8 2024 brings up a new format with double headers. In the first round, teams will play each other twice, on a home and away basis. The aggregate winner will progress, while the losers will have to play classification matches. games will be played in selected venues that are St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, and MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. Each day is a double matchday with the first one slated to kick-off at 5 pm and the second at 8 pm.
New Clubs have been busy in the transfer market trying to beat the deadline in their quest to bring on board new players. This pre-season tournament will, therefore, give the coaches a chance to try their new signings while on the other hand the fans will witness potential new heroes in action.
Two Super 8 teams have new coaches:
The FUFA Super 8 comes early enough, availing a chance for silverware and through to the success ticket that comes with the season. The win in the championship by BUL FC gave the side confidence and the impetus to gun for the league title.
SC Villa and Kitara FC will use the Super 8 to ready themselves for their intercontinental engagements in the CAF. SC Villa will engage Ethiopia’s CBE in the CAF Champions League while Kitara tackles Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya in their first-ever continental showpiece.
