Home » Super Eagles vs The Cranes: Ultimate Betting Guide for Uganda vs Nigeria!
Fez sets the stage for a blockbuster showdown: Uganda vs Nigeria on the final day in AFCON Group C! The Super Eagles have already soared into the knockout stages, but the Cranes are scrapping for their tournament existence. It is only last-placed Uganda which can relegate them, but a win here would have the Africans switch places with them, and they’re through to the last 16.
Nigeria have been ice cold in front of goal – but they’ve also been shaky at the back, as we saw in the last match. This provides a ray of hope for Uganda, considering how they displayed amazing courage in the recent 1-1 draw with Tanzania.
Uganda picked up their first AFCON point since returning to the competition after holding Tanzania 1-1 – a result that could have been even better were it not for a missed stoppage-time penalty. Bottom of the log at the start of matchday, Cranes are still in contention for qualification. A draw would leave them requiring Tanzania to defeat Tunisia, a win would keep their last-16 hopes alive. Form is a worry however – one win in five and just one win in their last 10 AFCON matches.
Nigeria are already into the knockouts and come with high confidence provided by a 3-2 victory against Tunisia, in which Ademola Lookman starred. Super Eagles have since won seven of their last eight AFCON group matches and lost just one of their nine competitive games, making them overwhelming favourites.
And as far as the historical Uganda vs Nigeria rivalry is concerned, it’s actually the Cranes who have a shock lead. They won four of the eight encounters so far between these two nations, with Nigeria securing just two victories.
The pair met in a friendly match back in November 2018 that ended all square at 0-0, something of an indication perhaps of the nature of these games. In reality, five of the rest seven H2H encounters had ended with a single-goal difference. History proves that even though Nigeria would be the favorite, Uganda knows how to make everything difficult for the Super Eagles.
Uganda (WWLLLD)
Uganda have played to a 1-1 draw against Tanzania in their latest Africa Cup of Nations match. They had 55% of possession and 14 shots on goal with 6 on target in that game. Managed one goal by Uche Ikpeazu (80′), with Simon Msuva (59′) scoring for Tanzania.
Paul Put’s team have managed to score 6 goals in their last six matches. They have been generating chances, but they haven’t always finished them at the moments that count. They will have to be more clinical in the finishing if they want to see off the Super Eagles on Tuesday.
Nigeria (WWDLWW)
Nigeria are coming off a 3-2 Africa Cup of Nations victory over Tunisia in their most recent match. In that game, Nigeria had 60% possession and attempted 15 shots with 5 on target. Victor Osimhen (44′), Wilfred Ndidi (50′) and Ademola Lookman were on target for Nigeria.
Nigeria have been dangerous in attack coming into this game, netting 15 times in their last 6 games. This fails to conceal the truth that Nigeria have been somewhat vulnerable at the back, and also found themselves having their defence penetrated in 5 of them. They are irresistible in attack, though – for the other team’s defence to penetrate.
Team News: Uganda
It appears that The Cranes ought to line up in a 4-4-1-1 formation for the match. Denis Onyango should be the one taking charge from his back, with him being the equilibrium imposing figure for this huge cause. In the midfield, Bobosi Byaruhanga will use his running to disrupt Nigeria’s rhythm on the field
Team News: Nigeria
Super Eagles are likely to go for a 4-3-1-2 formation. But with top spot already, Eric Chelle may rotate his team in order to keep them fresh.

Checking this, we think that Nigeria should be offering a lot of chances and shots on goal. Their attacking depth just miles ahead of what most teams in this tournament can field. Even with some rotation, they have players like Kelechi Iheanacho or Samuel Chukwueze who can change a game in an instant.
Uganda, on the other hand, will struggle for goals, but we do expect them to find a way past Tunisia in this one. Certainly they have enormous fighting capabilities and will be extremely eager to keep their AFCON dream alive.
So we are expecting a fairly comfortable 1-3 victory to Nigeria by full time.
